Hi, I’m Ruth!

They say that art tells a story. If mine tells a story I think my message is that I want to add color and brightness to everyone's life. I create to express myself, I will use just about anything that makes interesting marks or texture in my work. Acrylic paint and inks, chalk pastels, papers (bought and hand made), pencils, charcoal, collage, cardboard, bubble wrap, sticks of all kinds. Nothing is off limits. I let the artwork guide me. Many of my abstract works will attest to this. Creating isn’t just something I do… it’s who I am.

My work is called whimsical, fun, bright and colorful. My hope is that it will put a smile on someone's face and make their day a bit lighter. We all need smiles and love in our lives and art can be one way to accomplish that.

* Visit my studio (Two levels of St. Pauls Episcopal church is known as North Art Studios, you will find me in the Lower Level, Studio 1)

* In October of 2023 I realized one of my dreams.; I was able to open a gallery for local artists and offer classes there as well. It grew like wildfire, the community loved it and so did the ~25 local artists who staffed it, supplied it with art. We enjoyed bringing art to the community. That project has ended but will not be the last. We are planning a new opening, so stay tuned!
